One of our goals during our trip up to the Bay Area was to meet up with some of Jeannie’s friends that she met during her residency. Since her friend lives in the city, we decided to meet up at Zachary’s which is located near the Rockridge BART station.
You can order by the slice up at the counter or seat yourself in the dining area. We got there fairly early so the restaurant was empty, but it quickly filled to capacity by the time we got our pizza. Get something from the menu, or check the specials on chalkboard above the counter. If you like deep dish pizza, you must eat here (or at any of their other locations).
Zachary’s Chicago Pizza – Oakland
A small spring salad. We probably should have opted for the larger sized salad and ordered a smaller pizza.
The remainder of a Large Barbecue Chicken Deep Dish Pizza. The waitress serves the first slice for patrons. Notice how the crust is nice and crispy on top.
A slice and a half will make even the hungriest person very full. I ate two and ended up with a food baby belly. Bring the elastic pants!
Check out the awesome fan art on the walls. They hold a contest every few years and display the art on the walls of their restaurants.
Talk to me, Goose.
