What If?

August 26, 2013 by Long Pham

What’s the point of saving? What if I die young? In other words, what if my money outlives me? Shouldn’t I enjoy my money while I can?

What if you don’t die young? What if you do outlive your money? What if you’re old and you realize that you have nothing?

What If?

I urge you to never play the “what if?” game in any aspect of your life. Take things for what they are, as they are. If you have a problem, don’t waste valuable time contemplating how things would be different, “only if.” Spend your precious time attacking problems with practical solutions. If you expect everything to achieve results based on the best-case scenario, you’re likely to live life disappointed and unfulfilled. Focus, instead, on your strengths and the amazing power that you have to control your destiny.

One of the ways we can control our lives is by managing our time properly. And, as we’ve discussed, managing our time means that we are also managing our money. Let’s take away the extremes and plan for a balanced life. We don’t know what’s going to happen in the future. So let’s live a good life now, and plan on having a good life later too.

With that, let’s cheat by playing the “what if” game one last time. Answer one of these questions, or tell me how you would feel, by commenting below.

  • What if you didn’t have to live paycheck to paycheck?
  • What if you weren’t a slave to a job?
  • What if you didn’t have any debt?
  • What if you didn’t have to worry about your, or your family’s, future?
  • What if you no longer had to worry about money?
  • What if you had the all the time you ever wanted with your loved ones?
