Vacation Steam

I just got back from a vacation with my family several days ago. Although my mind is refreshed and I feel relieved of some stress, I just can’t get into gear. All I’ve been wanting to do is sleep – although, on account of having kids and the reality of all of my responsibilities, I can’t.

Between cleaning up and putting things away from the trip (which literally took three days), I spent a full day catching up on financial matters, another making medical appointments and arrangements for my parents, and one for catching up on work.

Now that I’m all caught up and have the house to myself for a few hours, I don’t have the motivation to get started on any of my projects.

Perhaps it’s because I’m a little burnt out on working on things for other people. I have a bunch of things that I want to do for myself, but the time I do have usually needs to be spent on activities that are guaranteed income.

Speaking of things I want to do for myself, since my shitty iPhone 5 has dirt under the lens of both front and rear cameras, I haven’t been taking any pictures of food (or many of my younger daughter). I feel really bad about the latter, and the remedy of keeping a regular camera around doesn’t work that well, since the moment I want to capture is usually over by the time it starts up and the lens is ready to take a picture.

I inherited a Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 because of a purchase fiasco and I’ve really taken a liking to the Android platform. I was debating an upgrade to remove myself completely from iOS by purchasing the Samsung Galaxy S6, but stopped myself when I heard about the new USB Type C connector.

So, I waited to hear what was going to happen with the Samsung Note 5 and the new Google Nexus phones for 2015. Sadly, the Note 5 that was just announced will use the old micro USB connector. The Google phones are expected to have USB-C, so I’ll just be waiting on final specs and reviews.

Besides being able to take spontaneous photos again, I’m looking forward to having a new phone so I can get back into my other blogging activities – and perhaps even getting back into working on my vlog for YouTube.

Ultimately, I may look into replacing my Chromebook with an Android based tablet and keyboard cover. Moving all my games from the puny iPhone to the tablet has been such a relief on my eyes (I’ve been hooked on Fallout Shelter – and quit playing it on my phone since it released on Android). But besides games, I think I’ll be able to do anything I need with a tablet that I can do on a Chromebook. It’s just a more expensive upgrade.

Now to sell my old, unused electronics that are lying around the office so I could justify the new toys…
