One of the main reasons I love hanging out in the Bay Area is that there aren’t too many chain restaurants. That leaves it up to the “hole in the wall” to fill the gap. I think they go above and beyond with the quality of their ingredients and friendly service.
Doyle Street Cafe in Emeryville is close to the marina in a semi industrial, commercial, and residential area. I think there was even a school across the street. It’s a simply decorated sizable, restaurant that caters to a lot of locals. It’s off beat locale doesn’t attract very many tourists, and the fact that it can get crowded is a good sign.
This place was the site of our last breakfast before flying back home. It didn’t disappoint.

Joe’s Special is yummy. Eggs, turkey, mushrooms, and spinach served with the works. Gotta love it.
A beautiful Eggs Benedict created with wonderful ingredients.
A simple two eggs breakfast plate.
A half stack of pancakes for my daughter who eats them by the fistful…literally.
Talk to me, Goose.
