On our last night visiting my brother in the Bay Area, we met up with some friends to have a nice Italian dinner. Paisan is a relatively spacious joint in Berkeley that has a bar showcased in the middle of the restaurant, surrounded by seating. They’ve got a small standard menu and the specials of the day on an oversized chalkboard that takes up the good part of a wall.

I forgot what kind of salad this was, but you can see the components for yourself.
I’m a big fan of gnocchi. I actually didn’t like this version of it. It was too big and I didn’t care for the texture. All the other ingredients tasted great!
It’s pappardelle in bolognese sauce. The dark pasta at the bottom is a squid (cuttlefish) ink pasta from someone else’s plate.
