What took two hours last night only took thirty-eight minutes tonight.
Like I predicted, Alyssa did wake up once during the first night around 3 or 4 am. But since we both had to work today, she finished out the morning in our bed. It wasn’t the ideal thing to do, but it was a good compromise considering that she did spend about five hours asleep by herself.
Tonight, after the usual bedtime routine, I took her into her room and placed her into the crib. She started to fuss as she was descending , but stopped when her head hit the mattress. I thought that I might have gotten lucky, but I was wrong.
Shortly after putting her down, she popped back up on her own and started getting upset. I heard a couple of vomit gurgles, so I had to pick her up to calm her down for a bit. Then I put her back down and let her finish her crying bout. She eventually lied down on her own and then flipped over on her belly. That gave me the opportunity to cover her with the blanket and then pat her to sleep. After her sniffles died down, I was able to leave the room with her fast asleep.
The night is far from over, so it’s too soon to judge how night two of this sleep training situation is going to go. But here’s to hoping for the best.
Talk to me, Goose.
