Good Help Is Hard To Find

November 28, 2014 by Long Pham

It’s kind of crazy to think about all the crazy fad diets that are out there right now. Yet still, burger joints are flourishing and popping up on every corner – rivaling the presence of the omnipotent Starbucks.

In keeping with tradition, on the way out of Las Vegas, I met up with my friend for lunch at a burger joint. Not having been to a Smashburger before, I didn’t mind giving it a try.

I stand in line, place my order, listen to the cashier repeat the order back to me, and then take my seat with a number on a stick. I look down at my receipt and realize the cashier got my order wrong. I walk up to the expeditor and tell her about the problem with my order and see if they can correct it. Nope…no such luck. I have to go wait in line again to have my order corrected. I hate dealing with employees that are not empowered to take action and do the right thing.

I finally get to the front of the line and get my order corrected. There is a big exchange between the employees as if the world was ending and somehow it’s all my fault. Other customers who are behind me leer, silently judging me for holding up the line.

I walk back to my table and have a seat and wait patiently for the server to bring me my food. The confusion of removing two orders of regular fries from my order and placing an order for a Smashfries instead proved too difficult. I end up with a single order of regular fries. Sigh…

Some things are just not worth making a stink over. I ate my burger and fries, and drank my soda. Things got better as I filled my empty belly. Then I drove home with my family.

Smashburger – Las Vegas

Sin City Burger. Burger, bacon, fried egg, and onion rings…what more could you ask for? Apparently, every city has a signature burger.

BBQ Bacon Cheddar Burger. I have to admit, this burger was pretty good. Not The Habit Burger Grill good, but it’s pretty good.

A basket of sweet potato fries.

The Classic Smash with Avocado added on.

An order of French Fries. I was supposed to get an order of Smashfries.
